Vitro Moda is our way of uniting the exciting creation of glass (Vitro) and fashion (Moda) into a very unique fundraiser. Each year, we transform a venue into a New York runway. The event begins with a silent auction of glass art that has been donated by participating artists. Couture models then walk the catwalk with the best of glass art created by glass artisans from all over the United States. Pieces that are featured during the runway show are for sale at its conclusion.

Aya Oki was born in Osaka, Japan in 1982. She completed her MFA in glass under the supervision of Peter Ivy at the Aichi University of Education in 2008. Her connection to Peter Ivy, brought her to Pilchuck Glass School, in 2006 where she was a teaching assistant for Ivy. Her experience at Pilchuck created a new perception of the expressive range that glass art can achieve. She also gained an interest in international exchanges in art and her enthusiasm for American glass art deepened.
Aya was awarded the Grants for Overseas Study by Young Artists from the Pola Art Foundation and the Program of Overseas Study for Upcoming Artists from the Agency for Cultural Affairs in Japan for studying abroad as a researching artist. She attended California State University, San Bernardino to work with Katherine Gray in 2010, and after that she further pursued her education at Rochester Institute of Technology to work with Michael Rogers and Robin Cass while completing her MFA. Aya completed the postgraduate course in Glass at RIT in May 2014, and continues her career as a glass artist, currently working in Southern California.
