Artist Opportunities

SiNaCa Studios: Visiting Artist Opportunities:

 

Non-glass artist residency (Fall/ Spring Gallery Night):

Description: A five-week residency (3-6 hours per week of studio time) culminating in a final public demonstration during Fall/Spring Gallery Night with the studio team. One brainstorming session (one to two hours) of discussion with studio managers and directors to discuss goals for the artist’s projects. Four sessions of experimentation and studio rental with team members to understand the different processes of glass making specifically related to the artist’s projects. The artist is responsible for purchasing their own materials, providing their own transportation and arranging their own accommodations. SiNaCa Studios will cover the studio and equipment rental, costs of instruction and assistance. Participating artists will be required to leave behind 1-2 works completed during the residency or gallery night demonstration. Artists will need to be comfortable being photographed and filmed for SiNaCa Studios online outreach and education programming.

Proposal: A document including (but not limited to) a statement of interest in working with glass, information about your prior experience working with your usual materials/processes, proposal for project(s), project details

Proposal support documents: Images/sketches/supporting documents for project proposal

Portfolio: Images/Video showcasing 3-6 images of past work

    Applications for this residency are accepted on a rolling-basis. Applicants will be reviewed and notified as applications are received. Notifications about acceptance or denial will be sent out within a month of receipt of application.

    Glass Artist Demonstration Opportunity (Open Studio):

    Description: A one day residency (6 hours studio time) culminating in a public demonstration during Open Studio Night. The artist is responsible for providing their own transportation and arranging their own accommodation. SiNaCa Studios will cover the studio and equipment rental, costs of assistance (if needed), and up to $50 of glass color or supplies needed for the demonstration. Participating artists will be required to leave behind at least one work completed during the residency or Open Studio night demonstration. Artists will need to be comfortable being photographed and filmed for SiNaCa Studios online outreach and education programming.

    Requirements:

    Proposal: A document including a statement of interest in demonstrating with us, prior experience working with materials/processes, details of demonstration/work that will be completed

    Proposal support documents: Images/sketches/any supporting documents for project proposal

      Details of studio time requests (how many hours of anticipated hot shop time, cold shop time, flameworking time, kiln time will be needed for the artist’s proposed work)

      Portfolio: Images/Video showcasing 5-10 images of past work
