Bead Making 101

This course is an introduction to glass bead making. Beginning students will learn the fundamentals of using the torch to melt glass into beautiful beads. This 4-week (12hr) course will provide students with the essential concepts and techniques required to develop a solid foundation of flame working skills while making simple, elegant beads. An emphasis on safety as well as perfecting skills will make this course a prerequisite for any other bead making classes or workshops offered.

Bead Making Level One Workshop: Building on the Basics

Price: $160 Per Participant | Class Size: Min 2 – Max 4   |   Ages 14+   |   Prerequisite: Bead Making 101

This 3-hour workshop is designed to give beginning bead making students more time at the torch in order to refine the techniques learned in Bead Making 101. The instructor will provide individualized instruction to help you with any difficulties you might have with any of the skills covered in Bead Making 101. Instructor will demo if needed. Its a good time to practice while making nice beads of your choice.

Bead Making Level One Workshop: Teapot Beads

Price: $160 Per Participant |  Class Duration: 1 session(s) | 3 hours/session  |   Class Size: Min 2 – Max 4  | Ages 14+   |   Prerequisite: Bead Making 101

This 3-hour workshop is a great way to learn to apply handles and spouts as well as decorative techniques while making some nifty teapots. This is a very helpful class if you are interested in making vessels later. Students will learn the required skills through demonstrations and practice.

Bead Making Level One Workshop: Funky Faces

Price: $160 Per Participant |  Class Duration: 1 session(s) | 3 hours/session  |   Class Size: Min 2 – Max 4  | Ages 14+   |   Prerequisite: Bead Making 101

You will be able to wear your alter ego around your neck after completing this fun and whimsical 3-hour workshop. You can also make some emoji or avatar beads.

Bead Making Survey II: Floral Beads

Price: $475 Per Participant | Class Duration: 4 session(s) | 3 hours/session  |   Class Size: Min 2 – Max 4   |   Ages 14+   |   Prerequisite: Bead Making 101 & L1 Workshop

In this 4-week (12 hour) course, students will learn numerous techniques used to make beautiful floral beads. Each week students will learn to make a different type of floral bead including three dimensional flowers and watercolor flowers. Making specialized “flower” canes will be taught. Students will make many floral beads which can be used as focal beads or  pendants.

Bead Making Survey II: Critter Beads

Price: $475 Per Participant | Class Duration: 4 session(s) | 3 hours/session  |   Class Size: Min 2 – Max 4   |   Ages 14+   |   Prerequisite: Bead Making 101 & L1 Workshop

If you love animals, this 4-week course is for you. While making animal beads, students will learn to control the heat of the torch and practice working cooler. Making simple animals is a great introduction to sculptural beads and are easy to make using the skills developed in Beadmaking 101. The last two classes are intermediate skill level beads. The students will learn the required skills through demonstrations, individualized instruction and practice, practice, practice.

Bead Making Level Two Workshop: Simple Vessels

Price: $160 Per Participant |  Class Duration: 1 session(s) | 3 hours/session  |   Class Size: Min 2 – Max 4

Ages 14+   |   Prerequisite: Bead Making Survey II

This workshop will introduce students to the techniques required to make vessels which can be used as focal beads or aromatherapy vials.  Vessels require working off the end of the mandrels.  This takes some practice for proficiency, but each student will complete one vessel.

Bead Making Level Two Workshop: Silver Leaf & Wire

Price: $160 Per Participant |  Class Duration: 1 session(s) | 3 hours/session  |   Class Size: Min 2 – Max 4

Ages 14+   |   Prerequisite: Bead Making Survey II

In this workshop, students will learn various ways to apply silver to their beads.  We will cover both encasing the silver as well as burning it off at the torch.  Students will make several colorful beads using silver.

Bead Making Survey III: Disk & Hollow Beads

Price: $300 Per Participant | Class Duration: 2 session(s) | 3 hours/session   |   Class Size: Min 2 – Max 4

Ages 14+   |   Prerequisite: Bead Making Survey II & L2 Workshop

This two day (6 hour) workshop will be challenging but rewarding.  Students will learn to coil the glass up on the mandrel instead of letting it melt down into a typical bead.  On the 2nd day, students will coil up 2 beads on the mandrel and connect them so they make one hollow bead. Special hollow mandrels will be used so the bead can be puffed up
