Community Events

Open Studio Night

Join us the second Friday of each month from 6p -9p as we host an open studio night at SiNaCa. This is your chance to find out more about the “magic” that goes in to creating glass art. Each month we feature a different artist in our studios. As the artist creates their work we give you an interactive play by play, so you can understand better why they do what they do. Our on site gallery showcases our featured artist to give you a close up view of what they create. Its also the perfect time to find out how you can get involved in learning how to work with glass.

Open Streets

Open Streets is a four-hour Sunday event which closes Magnolia Avenue and other adjacent streets to traffic and opens them up to cyclists, food trucks, dog-walkers, skateboarders, yoga classes, facepainters and much more. The event is an expression of the Near Southside’s community spirit in every way: local businesses set up activities along the route; neighborhood residents help spread the word about street closures and detours; and dozens of community partners take ownership of key planning details such as routes and activities, temporary public art projects, pet adoptions, bike safety courses, setting up and breaking down barricades on event day, and much more. Open Streets was presented by Near Southside, Inc. (formerly Fort Worth South, Inc.) and the City of Fort Worth for the first time in 2011 and drew hundreds of participants. Since then, the event has grown to be one of the Near Southside’s most beloved community events with attendance in the thousands. We offer different kiln forming hands on activities and demonstrations during the event.

Gallery Night is an area wide event where participating galleries keep extended hours to show case the visual arts and our community’s unique cultural richness. Most galleries are open noon to nine. Vitro Moda

Vitro Moda is our way of uniting exciting creations of glass (Vitro) with the high energy of fashion (Moda) into this most unique glass art fundraising experience.  This event allows us to transform a local venue into a New York style fashion art runway.  We kick off with a silent auction of unique glass art pieces, donated by generous participating artists.   Followed by the surprises of a Glass Art Wall Pull – where donors select a surprise boxed piece and then walk the runway to share the view of their glass art prize.  Next, couture models walk the catwalk with the best of glass art created by glass artisans from all over the United States.  Culminating the night with the sale of the runway show’s featured art pieces.  Throughout this upbeat event are great food, libations, great music and a true focus on glass art, SiNaCa Studios, and the potential it has to enhance community.
