Classes & Workshops

I don't have any experience with glass what can I do?

The majority of our classes are geared for people that have never played with the material before. If there is a prerequisite it will be noted in the class description. You can find all our classes available for people with no experience on our Newbie Workshops page.

What are Newbie Workshops?

Newbie Workshops are beginner-friendly classes with no experience required! They’re a fun and easy way to try glassmaking for the first time. The Newbie Workshops we offer are as follows:

  • Spark Workshops: $60-$90 Per Participant
In 30–90 minutes, create your own seasonal project in kiln forming, flame working, or glass blowing.
  • Experience Series: $175 Per Participant
In 2-3 hours, create two unique glass pieces in kiln forming, flame working, or glass blowing.
  • Wine Down: $95-$195 Per Participant
In 2 hours, create a 12″ cheese board and matching knife handle in our kiln studio. This workshop is BYOB (Bring Your Own Beverage) 21+ ONLY.
  • A Bit More: $415 For up to 2 Participants
In 2 hours, up to 2 people can create two small and one larger item OR four smaller items in glass blowing.
What is a Spark Workshop?

Spark Workshops are your way to get involved with glass without a long-term commitment! These workshops are designed to take about 30 to 90 minutes per person. Classes are held in each of our three studios, Glass Blowing, Kiln Forming and Flame Working. Items vary throughout the year and maybe seasonally themed. To sign up for classes and see the items we have to offer, click here.

What age do you have to be to take a class?

Our Spark Workshops are designed for ages 8 & up in the glass blowing and flame working studios, and 5 & up in kiln forming(with parent or guardian). Our longer term classes are 14 & up. All of our classes will have a specified age minimum. Our classes are perfect for kids, teens, adults, and seniors.

How long are classes?

Classes can range from 30 – 90 minutes, 2 to 3 hours, or up to 4 weeks in length. Each class will specify how long it will be.

When is your next class?

We offer a variety of classes in each of the 3 disciplines that we teach. If you have a specific date in mind, looking at our calendar is a good first option.

How do I sign up for a class?

For the most reliable experience, we recommend registering for all classes through our website, as this guarantees your spot.

If you prefer to register by phone, you will need to provide either:

  • Your email, so we can send an invoice for payment, or
  • Your credit card information for immediate payment.

Please note: Spots are not held without payment.

To register by phone, call us at 817-899-0024, and we’ll guide you through the process.

You can also register by email at foh@sinacastudios.org. Please include:

  • Names, emails, and phone numbers of all participants
  • For minors, a parent or guardian’s contact information is sufficient

Finally, you are always welcome to sign up in person at our studio.

Can I do something now?

Most likely no. We don’t always have instructors on site, and the needed equipment may not be on. The calendar is the best way to see what classes we may have available on a specific day. If you are looking at a specific date, you can request a private event by filling out our private event contact form on our Contact Us page.

Are walk-ins welcome? Do you still do Walkup Workshops?

No, we are no longer doing our Walkup Workshops, they are now called our Spark Workshops and you must register online to take the class.

If you happen to walk in while a class is in session and there are available spots, you are welcome to register on the spot and join the class.

How can I learn the more advanced techniques of working with glass?

Want to learn the fundamentals of glass making? We offer curriculum style classes that we call Surveys for Glass Blowing, Kiln Forming, and Flame Working. You can find out more here.

Closed toed shoes and long pants are preferred, but shorts may be worn during the hotter months. 100% cotton clothing is recommended. Please tie back long hair. If you are wearing a short sleeve shirt, we have Kevlar sleeves for arm protection from the heat. While in studio areas, protective eyewear must be worn at all times. Safety glasses are available, however you may wear your own safety glasses, sunglasses or prescription glasses.

Can I fill out the release of liability form before my class?

Yes, you can find the form here.

What time should I get there for my class?

We encourage all participants to arrive at least 5 minutes prior to class starting. If it is your first time at our studio, we recommend coming in early to fill out our release of liability form.

If I can't make it to class or I'm running late, what do I do?

We understand that circumstances may arise, and you may not be able to make it to your class. We will do our best to help get you into another class. If you used a groupon or gift card we will allow you to use it again for a future class. If you didn’t use a gift card or voucher we will coordinate with you via email to get you in to another class. Our full cancellation policy is available here.
